Our Story

Bombo is Italian for bumble bee—a little salute to our roots and a perfect metaphor for how we operate. Like the humble bumble, we’re curious, busy generalist foragers, always on the lookout for life’s sweetest finds.

Founded in 2019 inside the character-soaked walls of The Tannery on Christchurch’s east side, Bombo has grown into a trove of classic, considered pieces for everyday living.

Our range is deliberately fluid—new arrivals land as often as good fortune (and good taste) allow—yet every item shares the same DNA: timeless style, honest materials, and a story worth telling.

We are unabashed maximalists.

We layer textures, clash colours, and let patterns have spirited conversations across every surface. We stack books, cram shelves, and pepper rooms with beautiful objects that spark joy and memory in equal measure. What we refuse to do is celebrate waste. The throw-away, the flimsy, the synthetic-for-synthetic sake, none of it earns shelf space here. Style fads fade; built-in obsolescence bores us; “new” is nothing without “lasting.”

So we created Bombo to prove you can have more responsibly. Whenever practicable, we champion reconditioned, repurposed, and reconstructed vintage pieces. For everything else, we favour materials that are natural, renewable, recyclable, or reclaimed.

Our promise: beauty first, but never at the expense of the planet.

With Mr Morris as our north star, we curate practical classics designed to mellow and improve with age—faithful companions for the long haul. Step inside Bombo and discover objects that will earn a permanent place in your home, not just a fleeting cameo in your feed.
